Nairobi, Amboseli, Sweetwaters, Lake Nakuru, Masai Mara
Day 1: Arrive Nairobi / overnight
Touching down in Nairobi, your driver will be waiting to meet and assist and drive you in a private vehicle to the Nairobi Serena a member of the Leading Hotels of the World. This elegantly sophisticated Hotel stands amidst lush tropical gardens with panoramic views of Nairobi’s Central Park and the glittering towers of downtown Nairobi. The tranquil setting belies its location – just moments from most of the city attractions, including art and cultural institutions, shopping, nightlife, and entertainment. Guest will enjoy the exceptional standards of accommodation, fine cuisine and the state of the art health club. Meal plan is bed and breakfast.
Day 2: Drive to Amboseli
After breakfast we depart by road to Amboseli Our home for three nights is Ol Tukai which offers intimate, chalet-style guestrooms surrounded by an expansive lawn and tended gardens and offering a panorama of landscape, sky and wildlife with the massive majesty of snow-capped Mt. Kilimanjaro in the distance. There is a lovely swimming pool and an open-air bar dramatically positioned to overlook the wetlands. We will have time to refreshen and have lunch. In the late afternoon we set on a game drive in the reserve. Enjoy the spectacular display of wildlife and Kilimanjaro in the background providing some amazing photographic moments. Lunch and dinner is included on this day.
Day 3: In the shadow of Kilimanjaro
A dawn game drive will be provided with Mount Kilimanjaro in the background providing perfect photography moments. We return to the lodge for breakfast and some R&R “rest and relaxation”, sunbathing, swimming or for those of you reading enthusiasts, you can read the day away in the well-stocked library with a relaxing view of Mt. Kilimanjaro, before heading out for an afternoon game drive. All meals and overnight will be at the Lodge. Meal plan is full board.
Day 4: Drive to Sweetwaters
After breakfast depart by road to Sweetwater’s Tented Camp, set in the Ol Pejeta Conservancy at the foot of Mount Kenya. As one of only four private game reserves in Kenya, this area provides privileged seclusion and private game viewing. The Camp offers a charming blend of under canvas ambiance and comfort and it has long been the preferred retreat of wilderness and safari lovers alike. This is also one of the largest sanctuaries in East Africa for the endangered black rhino and the only place in Kenya to see chimpanzee. An afternoon safari drive from the camp takes you across the extensive savannah grassland for an exciting game run. Meal plan is full board.
Day 5: Drive to Samburu Game Reserve
Today after breakfast, we drive to Samburu a harsh and savagely beautiful wilderness that depends on the steady flow of Uaso Nyiro River for its existence. Two overnights will be spent at Samburu Lodge beautifully situated on the banks of the Uaso Nyiro River. Have lunch and a siesta. This afternoon we experience the thrill of your first game drive in Samburu. With its vivid colors and contrasts between sky, bush and sand, the park is a photographer's paradise and home also to the proud and handsome Samburu tribe. Meal plan is full board.
Day 6: Samburu
Activities on offer daily include stirring early morning and late afternoon game drives to discover this dramatic wilderness first hand and fascinating encounters with Samburu’ s "Special Five," called that because they're only found north of the equator: the reticulated giraffe, long-necked gerenuk, Somali ostrich, Grevy's zebra and the beisa oryx. Overnight will be at the lodge on a full board meal plan.
Day 7: Lake Nakuru National Park
Our destination is Lake Nakuru National Park with its huge concentrations of flamingos that inhabit the shallow, alkaline lake, along with the Marabou Stork and pelican. We will arrive for a late lunch at Lake Nakuru Lodge our home for the night. Scout the magnificent yellow-barked acacia trees for the elusive napping leopards. Look for incredible wildlife, such as the endangered Rothschild’s giraffe, white and black rhino, lion, buffalo, hippo, waterbuck and baboon during the afternoon game drive. Accommodation will be at on a full board meal plan.
Day 8: On to the Masai Mara
This morning we depart for the Mara with a stop at Keekorok for lunch. We will enjoy game viewing en route in Kenya's best known animal reserve as we head to Mara Serena our home for two nights. The Lodge draws its design inspiration from the traditional Maasai homestead that blends in perfectly with the surroundings. We will arrive in the late afternoon for a welcome rest and dinner. Meal plan is full board.
Day 9: Explore the Mara
Have an amazing morning and late afternoon game drive or alternatively depart with picnic boxes after breakfast for a full day game drive. Our expert guide is a seasoned-professional and has an amazing eye for finding the animals, birds and reptiles for which the Masai Mara is so justifiably famous. Your guide will explain the animal behavior – and because of his expertise and experience, will take you to the best locations for the season to maximize your safari experience. Return to the Lodge for a well deserved rest and overnight. Meal plan is full board.
Day 10: Depart
After an early morning game drive, you’ll enjoy breakfast back at the Lodge. We depart by road and lunch will be at the popular Carnivore Restaurant. Your driver guide will drop you off at the International Airport for your outbound flight after an exciting Kenyan Safari.
