This trip has it all, culture, history, wildlife, hiking combined with the adrenalin pumping action of white water rafting that makes for a totally unique trip.
Day 1: Arrive / Nairobi
Touching down in Nairobi, your driver will be waiting to meet and assist and drive you in a private vehicle to the Nairobi Serena a member of the Leading Hotels of the World. This elegantly sophisticated Hotel stands amidst lush tropical gardens with panoramic views of Nairobi’s Central Park and the glittering towers of downtown Nairobi. The tranquil setting belies its location – just moments from most of the city attractions, including art and cultural institutions, shopping, nightlife, and entertainment. Guest will enjoy the exceptional standards of accommodation, fine cuisine and the state of the art health club. Meal plan is bed and breakfast.
Day 2: Whitewater rafting
You will be driven start of the rafting venue near Yatta Gap Bridge. After a safety briefing guests are put in at the bridge and enjoy a 4 hour float trip for 10km down the river in mainly calm water. The night is spent on a suitable sand bank along the river.The section of the Athi River that you will run borders Tsavo National Park to the east. In many ways, this river is unique with wonderful scenery, a multitude of wild-life, hugely varied and spectacular bird-life, coupled with the best of medium grade white water River, makes for a truly unforgettable experience. Meal plan is fullboard.
Day 3: White water rafting
An early start today so as to be on the river for the best game viewing moments, (early morning and evening is when the animals mainly come down to drink). Today we spend a full day rafting, with numerous sections of class II and III white water plus two big drops of class IV. Lunch will be on one of the many small islands, (30km) and later we arrive at the camp – again at a suitable sand bank in the late afternoon. Meal plan is fullboard.
Day 4: White water rafting
Today is very similar to the previous day with some more exciting rapids and “jungle” to pass through. (25km). Lunch on one of the many small islands, (30km) Arrive at camp – again a suitable sand bank, late afternoon. Meal plan is fullboard.
Day 5: Drive to Nairobi / Fly Mara
After breakfast we drive back to Nairobi to connect with the scheduled flight to the Masai. Our home for 3 nights is the luxurious Ngerende Island Lodge with just seven sumptuous en-suites built on raised platforms that provide delightful panoramic views down onto the Mara River and the woodland on the bank, opposite. Each elegant tent has polished mahogany flooring (including the terrace) and is extremely spacious. Each has an open plan sleeping and living area, complete with fireplace; bathroom providing both a massage shower, open air bath (if desired) twin hand wash basins and flushing toilet. Each suit is attended by a butler who also waits on the guests at mealtimes. Have lunch and a short nap. Later in the afternoon you take your first game drive in the Conservancy abundant in plains games, predators and a myriad of birds. Meal plan is all inclusive.
Day 6,7: Masai Mara
Enjoy the splendors of what the Mara has to offer and our guests enjoy an intimate and relaxed stay and the pace of your safari may be as active or as leisurely as you wish. A wide range of activities are offered including walks with the resident naturalist, visits to the nearby Masai village (entrance extra), a visit to the local school, sundowners, bush meals weather permitting and game drives in the Conservancy. Guests may also relax by the pool or spend some rejuvenating moments at the spa (optional extra) .Meal plan is all inclusive.
Day 8: Fly Nairobi / Depart
You have an option of an early game drive today and after breakfast a transfer will be provided to the Airstrip for the scheduled morning flight back to Wilson. A driver will be waiting to drive you to the Airport for your outbound flight after an exciting safari
